We would like to invite M.A. and Ph.D. students interested in linguistics and business studies to participate in the conference organized by the “Texts and Codes” Student Society at the Institute of English Studies, University of Lodz.

The conference will concentrate on the uses of language in the business environment. Verbal communication is a crucial factors in any business activity, facilitating the company’s performance on international markets.

We invite contributions on any aspect of the following topics:

·         Business translation

·         Terminology and professional jargons in business

·         Teaching business language

·         Cross-cultural business communication

·         Technological advances in business communication and translation

·         The multimodal character of business communication

Abstracts of 200-300 words should be submitted to the organizers at textscodes@gmail.com with the registration form. The submission deadline is 28th February 2014.

The language of the conference will be English. The presentations should not exceed 30 minutes, including demonstrations, questions and discussion.
