Celem konferencji jest zainicjowanie badań nad obecnością dramatu indyjskiego w kulturze Zachodu. Obszarem badań objęte będą różne sfery kultury, w których dramat indyjski – klasyczny
i współczesny – manifestuje swoją obecność. Dlatego też, konferencja ma charakter interdyscyplinarny, co pozwoli na wieloaspektowe ujęcie problematyki - poczynając od kwestii translatorskich, poprzez realizacje teatralne, szkolnictwo artystyczne, szkolnictwo uniwersyteckie, programy badawcze, poetykę
i estetykę porównawczą, zagadnienia związane z inter- i wielo- kulturowością. Celem konferencji jest stworzenie stałego zespołu, który w ramach systematycznych badań opracuje diachroniczną, jak
i synchroniczną analizę tematu, dotychczas nie podjętego w studiach kulturoznawczych. Dzięki współpracy naukowców reprezentujących różne orientacje badawcze oraz artystów, projekt może łączyć elementy seminaryjne i warsztatowe, co z jednej strony poszerzy krąg jego odbiorców, z drugiej natomiast wzbogaci refleksję teoretyczną o doświadczenia praktyczne oraz estetyczne.

The aim of the conference is initiating of research over the presence of Indian drama in the culture of Occident. An area of research will explore different spheres of the culture, in which Indian drama – classical and contemporary – demonstrates its own presence. The conference is interdisciplinary, what let on the multifaceted seizure of the problems: translation, theatrical realizations, the artistic educational system, the university educational system, research projects, the poetics and the comparative aesthetics, connected problems with inter -- and multi – cultural studies. The conference aims to establish the constant team, which within the framework of systematic research will work out diachronic as well as synchronous analysis of the theme, hitherto not undertaken in cultural studies. Having in a background the collaboration of scientists representing different exploratory orientations and artists, the project can unite elements that of seminar and of workshop, what on one hand will extend the circle of his recipients, from second however will enrich the theoretical reflection with practical experiences and aesthetic.
