The International printmaking conference "Post-digital printmaking. Redefintion of print" was organised by the Faculty of Graphics and Media Art in December, 2017. We are very satisfied that our invitation for this event and the accompanying exhibition was accepted by artists, and by art theoreticians. We were convinced that a juxtaposition of different artistic attitudes and research perspectives would constitute a contribution to the warm discussion on the role, condition, place and future of contemporary printmaking. It was neither the first nor the final attempt to propose a new classification of printmaking. Successive exhibitions, reviews, conferences and symposia show that printmaking is nowadays thematically multi-threaded and extremely diversified with respect to technique. All areas of our lives are subjected to digitalization. And so is art. Therefore, even if thinking about printmaking from the point of view of works based on refined techniques has not yet become obsolete, it needs to be constantly redefined. We would like to continue this topic and to include the following issues in the debate: experiments within the classical techniques; the coexistence of traditional printmaking techniques and new technologies; overcoming the limits of the technical possibilities of printing; object-oriented printmaking; installation-based printmaking; technological innovations and new possibilities of creating images; a misprint as an impulse and a prime mover of the creative process in printmaking. Program and list of participated artists you can find on the conference website.
